Mary Fedden was born in Bristol in 1915. She attended The Slade School of Arts London between 1932 – 1936. Fedden later married the artist Julian Trevelyan and travelled widely which heavily influenced her work. Later she gained a teaching role at the Royal College of Arts between 1956 – 1964 the first lady teacher to do so. She went on to teach many aspiring young artists including David Hockey. Her work can be found in private and public collections including the Tate Gallery to name but a few. She continued to work in her studio overlooking the river Thames until she passed away in 2012 aged 96.
