Hamish Mackie was born in 1973. He grew up on the family farm in Cornwall, England. He attended Radley College and Falmouth University and later studied Design at Kingston University. Hamish became a fulltime professional sculptor in 1996 and has gone on to have an illustrious career. He is one of the worlds most revered wildlife sculptors having recieved many awards along with a number of sucessful solo exhibitions in London and New York. Hamish has been fortunate to travel to a number of countires including African, India, Australia and Antarctica. Being able to view wildlife within their natural surroundings has given Hamish first hand experience and a keen observation for wildlife. His passion for the natural world fuels his skill to capture the physical characteristics of his subjects and to create breathtaking sculptures in his own unique style. Hamish Mackie sculptures can be found in public and private collections throughout the world.
