Sir Peter Scott was born in London in 1909. He was the only child of Robert Falcon Scott the Antarctic explorer and sculptor Kathleen Bruce. Scott was educated at Oundle School and Cambridge University. He went on to study at the Munich State Academy and The Royal Academy Schools, London. Like his mother, Scott displayed a great artistic talent and established himself as one of the country’s leading wildlife painters. He held his first exhibition in 1933 and went on to have numerous solo exhibitions throughout his life. One of Scott’s many achievements was founding the World Wildlife Fund and campaigned endlessly for animal conservation and endangered species. Scott’s dedication, passion and hard work gained him a Knighthood in 1973. He passed away on 29th August 1989.
