What a rollercoaster 2020 has been. I do hope everyone is keeping safe and well. Certainly good news regarding a potential vaccine…hopefully it’s the magic remedy that will allow a more normal interactive life in 2021…fingers crossed!
As you will know, our gallery at Cedar Farm Mawdesley is currently closed to the public in accordance with Government Covid-19 lockdown rules for England. During this time we are offering a ‘collection by appointment service’ for any items purchased as well as free UK mainland delivery on all items sold throughout November and December. Please contact us for further details.
This week we are delighted to offer exciting new mixed media paintings by Ben Ark. Ben’s works have been a huge hit in the gallery and we feel fortunate to have four new works available, each piece with a northern landmark theme set in iconic locations around Manchester and Liverpool. All four pieces are now available and on display in the gallery in readiness for December re-opening, please see images below.
Ben’s photorealistic works are certainly attracting the right attention in and around the contemporary art scene. He has been chosen as a featured artist and has five new artworks (created during lockdown) on display at the Lowry Theatre and Art Gallery. ‘Days Like These’ is a major exhibition exploring how L.S. Lowry’s hometown of Salford lived through the lockdown. Artwork, photographs, films and poetry provided by some of the 245,000 residents of the city have been put together to create the new exhibition which started on the 1st November 2020; it will reopen once second lockdown is lifted. The five works Ben created sit alongside the works of L.S. Lowry – famously known for his paintings of crowded city streets and vast empty landscapes.
Ben’s work, is also being exhibited as part of the ‘New Light Art’ exhibition, celebrating contemporary northern art. The exhibition opened at Scarborough Museum on the 19th September 2020 and due to tour Carlisle, Newcastle and finally end in London in 2021. Visiting the fantastic Tullie House Museum, The Biscuit Factory and Bankside Gallery, Ben was both happy and humbled to have been successfully shortlisted from over 2,000 applicants in the exhibition’s tenth anniversary year.
Ben success has not stopped there, he will exhibit at The Wales Contemporary opening this month. The Wales Contemporary / Cymru Gyfoes champions art from Wales, with a prestigious panel of judges who selected around 150 pieces from over 1100 works for the final exhibition. The shortlisted works will be exhibited at the Waterfront Gallery, Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire from 13th November to Wednesday 30th December 2020 and at the OXO Gallery London in spring 2021.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me for any further assistance.
Best wishes, Bradley
