Jonathan Sainsbury was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire in 1951. Jonathan studied at Leamington Spa College of Art and Leeds College of Art, graduating in 1976 and went on to establish a long successful career as one of the UK’s leading wildlife artists. Drawing on inspiration from the beautiful Perthshire countryside where Jonathan lives, his works enable the viewer to connect with their own affinity with wildlife and the natural world. He favours the medium of watercolour and his ornithology works are created with a keen observation for subjects in their natural habitat.
Jonathan has held a number solo exhibitions across Great Britain, France, Canada and America and is a member of the Artists Foundation for Conservation and the Society of Wildlife Artists. Jonathans’ works have been exhibited at the Royal Scottish Watercolour Society, the Royal Glasgow Institute and can be found in public and private collections around the world.
