David Muirhead (1867–1930)
was Born 19 March 1867 in Edinburgh. He Studied at the Trustees’ School Edinburgh and the Westminster School of Art under Fred Brown. Exhibited at the R.A. from 1895, A.R.A. 1928 and with the N.E.A.C. from 1896. Was a member of R.S.W.S. 1893 and R.B.A. 1902. Founder member of the National Portrait Society 1911. He held a retrospective exhibition at the Chenil Galleries 1907.
Muirhead’s work can be admired in Museums across Great Britain and the Tate Art Gallery. He exhibited widely at many provincial galleries throughout the UK and also at London galleries including 10 times at the RA.
