Peter Evans studied exhibition design at Birmingham’s College of Art in the early 1960s. Peter then began working as a professional artist, initially concentrating on abstract paintings and constructions. In 1966 he took over the management of Warwick Fine Arts, a well-established Birmingham based company dealing in paintings, etchings and framing, and for the next 18 years he successfully combined the running of this business with maintaining a consistent output of work from his own studio.

The demand for Peter’s work steadily increased and in 1984 he decided to give up his business commitments in order to focus entirely on his painting, in which he was now developing a strong realist style. Since then his paintings have been widely exhibited and during the past ten years Peter’s images of European cafes bars and shop fronts have reached a far wider audience through the publication in poster form of 16 of his paintings. These have been published by The Art Group, London and distributed worldwide. The artist was elected a full member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists in 1990 and since 1996 and now lives in the Dordogne region of France, where he now has a large studio.
