Edward Horace Thompson (1879-1949)

was born in Seaton, Cumberland. Thompson began painting watercolours from a tender age.  After leaving school he joined his father working for the Moss Bay Iron Steel Works, in his spare time cycled the nearby countryside painting locals scenes.  Thompson was best known for painting dramatic and often atmospheric landscapes of the Lake District and Scottish Highlands.
