Charles Jones (1836-1892)

Charles Jones was a London painter of sheep, cattle and deer in landscape settings. He was of Welsh extraction, born near Cardiff and was affectionately know as ‘Sheep’ Jones due to his skillful and realistic portrayal of sheep. Jones exhibited widely between 1860-91 including the Royal Academy 1861-83, BS, SS and NWS. In 1890 Charles Jones was awarded a gold medal at Crystal Palace.
